Before there was a film, there was the blog. Check out posts dating back to the inception of the project in April 2008.

Eating Alabama Farm Locator

We've created an interactive map of farms around the state. There are roughly 45,000 farms in Alabama, so obviously we're not listing all. We're trying to focus on small scale farmers who grow a diverse group of crops and who are committed to sustainable agriculture and naturally grown products. Also listed in the map are grain mills, cheese makers, wineries in Alabama's "wine belt," and other places for Alabama food. Many of these farmers were found on a wonderful sustainable ag resource called Local Harvest. This selection process unfairly leaves out a lot of farmers without access and/or interest in the internet, which is a problem we'd like to remedy by talking to more farmers and traveling the state. If you know of a farmer who isn't listed, please get in touch. In the future, we hope to post interactive features on the map that will show photographs and maybe video of our trips to some of these farms.

You can find our Google Map here.
