Before there was a film, there was the blog. Check out posts dating back to the inception of the project in April 2008.

Wright Dairy

The Wright Dairy, in Calhoun County just north of Anniston, is the only dairy producer, processor, and retailer in the state of Alabama. That means that the cows are milked on the farm and the milk is pasteurize and bottled on the farm. Wright's milk is amazing. I've never had anything like it. It's rich and creamy and wonderful. They don't homogenize their milk so the cream still rises to the top. We met with David Wright, the owner and operator, and discussed our project with him. He's an Auburn fan, but within a few minutes we knew we could trust one another. We're fortunate that Wright sells to a shop in Birmingham, so we don't always have to drive to Anniston for milk. We're unfortunate that the shop is on 280, so it can take probably as long to get there...

Visit them sometime and watch them milk the cows. You can also pick up fresh locally made buttermilk, yogurt, and ice cream. Here's their home on the web, and here's the location of the Birmingham store.

I actually got a gallon of their milk at Organic Harvest on Highway 31. I was using it in my first rennet cheese making. I found your blog today while looking for local cheese makers! I can't wait to read more!
