$113/ 7 lbs. cheese (Sweet Home Farm)
$35 / 30 lbs. strawberries ( BJ’s)
$12 10 small heads broccoli and four bunches onions (BJ’s)
$45 20 pint jars of assorted salsas, pickles and preserves (Mont. Farmer’s Market)
$7.50 turnips and collards (Bham farmer’s market)
$30 3 gallon milk, 2 dz.eggs, and 1 gallon yogurt- 3 gallons milk, 1 gallon milk, two dozen eggs
$21 1 lb. peanuts, 4 lb.cabbage, 15 lbs.sweet potatoes (Burris farmer’s market)
$10 130 oz. corn meal (random convenience store in Barbour County)
+ eating costs along the way
Total: $270.00
Free: wheat berries, pork sausage, beef sausage, turkey breast, sirloin and prime rib beef steak, ground beef, blueberries, bib lettuce.
Wow!!! I feel like we have so much food. Making meals out of it all still feels daunting though. Eggs and milk really tie it together for me since now I can make breads and smoothies!!

i like the blog so far. oh rash, you were so coute when you were little.=) im glad to hear you can finally make bread now. wish i was there to help...sounds exciting! you will just have to eat some for me....literally....=) hope you guys are also docum-andying this..(you know, like documentary but with andy-style stuck in)..ok, im a dork. gotta leave now so i dont expose too much. =)
that is a pretty diverse set of foods. have you considered trading with the Indians for sweet potatos?
i got inspired by your effort and am trying a mini-locavore experiment. it isn't that hard actually, with the Berkeley Bowl already having such a diverse selection of local meat, bread, veggies, and vino. i also linked to your blog on a post of mine (www.davelove.wordpress.com and got a lot of good feedback and hits)
